RSS Cloud Content in emails

0
0

Eloqua has released an app that allows you to take an RSS feed and embed it into an email. This guide will explain how to install and use the RSS Cloud Content in emails app. This guide assumes you are familiar with creating and sending emails from within Eloqua.
In order to initially install the RSS app, you will need to be an Eloqua Customer Admin, and have access to the "Setup" area of Eloqua. In order to use the app, you need to have access to creating and modifying Eloqua emails from within Eloqua.

Features:
The RSS app allows you to define an RSS feed which can be used to feed the content of the RSS into the email. The RSS content will be captured at time of email send. Users can define the RSS feed, the number of RSS articles to include and the orientation (vertical or horizontal). Default CSS is provided, but users can define their own. Users can also customize the RSS feed URL with information from the contact (such as "industry").

Installing the App into the Catalog:
In order to install the app, please click on the following link.

You will be prompted to input your Eloqua credentials. Please do so, and click "Sign In".

You will then receive a page similar to the below screenshot. Click "Accept".

The app is now installed and available for your users.

Using the RSS App

In the email editor, double click the "Cloud Content" button. Find the app named "Embedded RSS" in the list, and drag it onto the landing page where you would like it. Double click, and you will get the following config screen:

RSS Config.png

RSS Feed URL: PLace the RSS feed here. Include the http:// at the start
Number of stories: This is the total maximum number of stories that will be displayed. It is possible that less articles will be displayed if less are in the feed

Layout: Would you like the articles to be aligned horizontally, or stacked vertically?

Custom URL Tokens: If you would like to personalize the URL with data stored on a contact, you would add a custom URL token. Click the + button, then select the Eloqua field from the pick list. Then, input the parameter that will be added to the URL Token name (such as "Industry")

Styling (CSS): You can modify the default CSS styling.

Preview: You can see how the RSS feed would render.

Save: Click save when done configuring the feed.

Why can't I export a report?

Below is a screen shot of when I try to export a report in ELQ it doesn't let me hit the export button.  The person who created the report had the same issue.  Even if I try to change the file type it still doesn't allow me to export.  Has anyone had this issue in the past?  If so, is there a workaround?

Appreciate any responses.

Best,

Mike

SurveyGizmo Issues

Hello Eloquans!

Has anyone had trouble with the SurveyGizmo Cloud Connector since SG updated recently?

We had installed and configured the SurveyGizmo Cloud Connector and it has been working fine for us, up until the recent SurveyGizmo update. Following this update, we are unable to properly utilize this tool and survey send/integration is a critical area for our business. My organization is seeing the following primary issues:

1) we cannot see the complete set of surveys in our Surveygizmo instance with the Cloud Connector

2) we are no longer able to embed the survey via the old method of choosing the assigned iframe embed code on the survey (SurveyGizmo has changed the way they embed their surveys).

I just logged an Eloqua Support ticket, but thought I'd also see if others had a similar experience?

Thanks!

If a person is a soft bounceback X number of times, is there a setting that once they reach that number of times they are considered a hard bounceback? Or, can a contact be eternally considered a soft bounceback?

Energize Your Eloqua10 Forms with CSS

CSS can be used to heavily customize the layout of forms in Eloqua10.  In this article we will provide sample cover some common formatting use cases on Eloqua10 Landing Pages.  Further details about uses of CSS in Eloqua10 form templates can be found here: EE12 - Do It - Eloqua - Energize E10 Forms

Eloqua10 Forms HTML Structure

Below is an outline of the structure of the HTML generated by Eloqua when a form is added to a landing page.  By targeting the HTML classes highlighted below, we can control the layout of any form on your landing page.

Basic Anatomy.png

.elq-form This class identifies the div tag which encompasses the entire form object on your landing page.  We usually will not target this div directly with CSS, but it's presence is necessary to create two-column forms
.form-design-fieldThis class identifies the div tags which encompass each row (label and field) of your form.  Targeting this class with CSS will allow you to control the spacing between form fields and the number of fields in each row of your form
labelTargeting this HTML tag with CSS will allow you to control the alignment and spacing of your form field labels
.form input wrapperThis class identifies the div tag which encompasses the each form feild and it's associated validation message.  We usually will not target this div directly with CSS, but it's presence is necessary to control the positioning of validation messages
.LV_Validation_MessageThis class  identifies the validation messages that appear when a required field is not filled out.  Targeting this class with CSS will allow you to control the appearance and position of validation messages
H3This HTML tag is used to create section headers.  Targeting this with CSS will allow you to format you section headers to look like form field labels, allowing you to ask questions longer that 100 characters on your forms
#formElement-Each form-design-field div tag is assigned a numbered formElement ID when your form is published.  IDs are assigned sequentially so the first element (field) on your form will have an ID of #formElement0, the second will have an ID of #formElement1 and so on.  Tageting these IDs with CSS will allow you to control te appearance of individual fields on your forms

Sample Code

Reduce spacing between form fields

.form-design-field {

padding:0px!important;

}

Treat a section header as a form field label

H3 {

font-size:12px!important;

}

Allow forms on the landing page to span two columns

(*note* this works best when all of the fields on the form have their field width set to large in the form editor)

.form-design-field{

padding:0px!important;

width:47%!important;

min-height:55px;

position:static;

float:left;

clear:none!important;

}

Gravity Forms + Eloqua

0
0

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share a contribution to this community to help others that might be using WordPress and Eloqua. This is a plugin that integrates Eloqua with a popular forms plugin for WordPress called Gravity Forms:

https://github.com/solepixel/gravityforms-eloqua

There seems to still be one major bug lingering and that's posting the form data to Eloqua through the API. As of now, I haven't been successful in getting it to show up in Eloqua, but possibly with the help of some other developers in this community, we can squash that bug. Here's where it all happens:

Building the Form Submission object to send to Eloqua:

https://github.com/solepixel/gravityforms-eloqua/blob/master/gravityforms-eloqua/gfeloqua.class.php#L316

Submitting the Form Data:

https://github.com/solepixel/gravityforms-eloqua/blob/master/gravityforms-eloqua/api/class.eloqua.api.php#L193

Making the API call:

https://github.com/solepixel/gravityforms-eloqua/blob/master/gravityforms-eloqua/api/class.eloqua.api.php#L98

I'm not 100% sure where my problem is occurring. The response I get from Eloqua doesn't seem right, it's almost like I'm doing a GET on /data/form/ID rather than a POST. Anyway, please feel free to submit a Pull Request if you have anything to contribute or let me know if you know what's wrong with it and I can update it. Thanks again!

Contact Activity Log Program Builder Entry Blank

I am trying to troubleshoot an issue with program builder and when I try to look at a contact's path in PB through their contact record I see this:

pb VIEW.PNG

Not very helpful. Anyone else have this problem? And then it gets stuck in the details screen, so when you look at subsequent contacts, you cannot go back to the main activity log.

I cant hit the back button to get to the main screen. Troubleshooting a contact is nearly impossible like this

Conditional processing of the form

0
0

Hello,

Every single contact in my Eloqua has a field called Website Unique ID. This is a randomly generated string. The reason for that is because I do not want other people to be able to change email address in form submissions and forge requests. This serves like a secret key that is checked when the form is processed.

So:

* A user submits a form that has website unique ID field and email

* When form is processed, we check that submitted ID matches the one stored on a Contact with the email address provided. If yes then process.

I was not able to implement this though. I added a condition on a form processing but it still bypasses the condition even if I do not submit WebsiteUniqueID at all. Can you please help me with the setup?

These are screenshots that demonstrate how it's currently set:

Custom Data Object - Contact Field not found in mapping step

0

Hi Eloquans,

I'm creating my first CDO (whee!)!  So, the way I"m setting this up is that we are pushing data from an ftp file and mapping that to our unique identifier.

I've added fields for the CDO. I am trying to map our unique identifier, which exists as a field on the contact record.  The problem is that the field I'm looking for is not showing up in the dropdown list of contact fields to map to.

Can anyone think of a reason this would happen?

Hi Everyone,

As I was beating up myself on everything Eloqua uses as Report vocabulary, I wanted to make sure I can share this with everyone. Here are all report terms and their definitions. Hopefully it helps everyone. I would say use this as a bible when explaining any reports to anyone.

Active Bounce Backs- The number of email addresses that have been marked as questionable because the email could not be sent to the address. These email addresses can be re-tried in case the problem was only a temporary one.

Agent- A particular agent (user) within Eloqua.

Avg Page Time (hh:mm:ss)- The Average time on a particular page in Hours: Minutes:Seconds.
