External calls no longer seeing custom SFDC fields?

I'm having a strange problem with my SFDC integration. When I go to an external call (inbound or outbound) and try to edit the field mapping, there is a message at the top of the field list "WARNING - highlighted fields are previously mapped fields that are no longer available." Below, all of the standard SFDC fields are fine, but the custom fields I had mapped before are all highlighted - and all previously unmapped custom fields are gone.

 

I've tried refreshing the CRM field list, but this doesn't change anything.

 

I tried testing the "update contact" external call with the custom field mappings intact (the highlighted fields can still be selected an mapped) and it seems to work. It updates the custom fields.

 

The problem is, I have new custom fields I need to add to the mapping, and they are not showing up on the list. Even worse, if I uncheck a highlighted SFDC field on the list it disappears and I can't get it back.

 

I've checked the permissions and page layouts of my integration user in SFDC and it has access to all of these fields. I'm pretty confused, I've never seen anything like this before and I can't find what's causing it.

 

Anybody have any ideas of what else to check?
