Ongoing campaign set to end with members still inside?

I have a nurturing campaign that has been running all year and is set to expire on Dec. 31. This is an ongoing campaign members are still entering and folks who would be in it well into the new year. We do want to keep it going? Is the best option here simply to deactivate the campaign and set the end date far in the future? Is there any risk of folks getting stuck in the campaign if I do that?
